Nick Gordon, Joey Gallo and Jorge Polanco, Twins

The Twins' loss to the Dodgers in their series finale also took a serious toll on their team's health, as three hitters exited the game due to injury. Gordon will be out for the foreseeable future after sustaining a fractured right leg on a foul ball off his shin in the fifth inning.

Gallo did not sustain a fracture following a nearly identical foul off his right leg in the ninth inning, but he experienced considerable swelling in the leg and will have to be evaluated following Thursday's off-day.

Polanco felt his left hamstring tighten up while running to first base on his fourth-inning groundout, and his hamstring strain will also be re-evaluated on Friday, ahead of the Twins' series opener against the Angels. More >

Manny Machado, Padres

Manny Machado has a small fracture in his left hand after being hit by a pitch on Monday, manager Bob Melvin said on Wednesday. It’s unclear at this time whether he’ll require a stint on the injured list, but the Padres will know more on Friday. More >

Nick Lodolo, Reds

A follow-up MRI taken on Monday revealed that Lodolo has a stress reaction in his left tibia. He is expected to be in a walking boot for at least two weeks and then undergo another MRI to track his progress. It's looking like a more long-term absence from the rotation is ahead for the left-hander. More >

Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Blue Jays

An MRI showed no structural damage to Guerrero's right knee after he left early in Tuesday's 6-3 loss against the Yankees. He injured himself while fielding a Gleyber Torres bunt that was popped up on the infield. Guerrero came down awkwardly and he was seen limping soon after. Guerrero was out of the lineup for Wednesday's night game against the Yanks and it's possible he needs another day or two as the Blue Jays continue to evaluate him, but it appears he will avoid an IL stint. Dylan Carlson and Tyler O'Neill, Cardinals

Carlson (left ankle sprain) was placed on the injured list on Wednesday. Carlson, who sprained his left ankle in Boston on Sunday night when a cleat caught the dirt near the batter's box, will be eligible to return on May 25.

O’Neill, who was placed on the 10-day injured list on May 5 because of a low back strain, is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment. The Cardinals have yet to decide which Minor League affiliate O’Neill will play for while rehabbing. More >

Wade Miley and Christian Yelich, Brewers

Miley (left lat strain) is headed to the injured list. Miley felt a grab behind his left shoulder during the second inning of his start against the Cardinals on Tuesday and was back in Milwaukee on Wednesday for an MRI scan.

After feeling a "grab" in his back on Sunday, Yelich (back discomfort) left early from Monday's game and hasn't played since. He is optimistic that this issue is on the "mild side". More >

Jazz Chisholm Jr., Marlins

Chisholm will be out four to six weeks with turf toe, manager Skip Schumaker said. The outfielder was placed on the 10-day IL on Tuesday after injuring his right big toe on the cement block of the left-center-field wall Saturday at loanDepot park. More >

Jose Altuve, Astros

The All-Star second baseman, who's been out all season after fracturing his right thumb in the World Baseball Classic, batted leadoff and went 0-for-5 on Tuesday in his first rehab assignment game with Double-A Corpus Christi. He was scheduled to be back in the Hooks' lineup Wednesday before returning to Houston and working out on Thursday's off day. He could be in Houston's lineup Friday night against Oakland. More >

Carlos Rodón, Luis Severino and Ian Hamilton, Yankees

Rodón (back stiffness) is unlikely to need a second cortisone injection in his back, manager Aaron Boone said Tuesday. Rodón played catch and did some light throwing from 60-75 feet on Saturday, Sunday and Monday after receiving an injection May 9 to address lingering stiffness in his back.

Severino passed his latest test on Tuesday at Double-A Somerset, proclaiming himself ready for the Majors after tossing 58 pitches (39 for strikes) over 3 1/3 innings against Reading. Severino allowed two runs and six hits in the outing. His season debut has been scheduled for Sunday against the Reds in Cincinnati.

Hamilton, who exited in the fourth inning Tuesday after coming in following Domingo Germán's ejection, was placed on the 15-day injured list with a right groin strain Wednesday. More >

Alex Verdugo and John Schreiber, Red Sox

Verdugo exited Wednesday's game early against the Mariners at the start of the third inning due to left groin tightness. The Red Sox termed his removal from the game as precautionary. Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Verdugo should be fine to start the team's next game on Friday night in San Diego.

Schreiber was placed on the 15-day IL on Tuesday with a right teres major muscle strain. He exited Monday's game in the middle of a seventh-inning at-bat against Julio Rodríguez, the first hitter he faced in relief. More >

Cody Bellinger, Nico Hoerner, Kyle Hendricks and Brad Boxberger, Cubs

Bellinger (left knee soreness) hit inside the batting cage on Wednesday, per manager David Ross, who kept the center fielder out of the starting lineup for the second straight game. Ross did not rule out having Bellinger -- who landed awkwardly after making a leaping catch in Monday's loss to the Astros -- available off the bench.

Hoerner (left hamstring strain) continued to go through an array of baseball activities (including baserunning) on May 17 in Houston. Ross reiterated that the second baseman was trending well and may be ready to be activated when eligible on May 19 in Philadelphia.

Hendricks (right shoulder strain) completed a bullpen session with the Cubs on May 17 in Houston and was scheduled to make his next rehab start with Triple-A Iowa in the coming days. The righty allowed two runs over five innings in a fourth Minor League rehab outing for Iowa on May 14.

Boxberger reported soreness in his throwing arm after Saturday's outing at Target Field. Ross said Boxberger will rest for a few days before being reassessed. The timetable for a return is unclear. More >

Josh Naylor, Guardians

Naylor was pinch-hit for in the sixth inning of Tuesday's series opener against the White Sox, leaving the game with left leg tightness. He came in feeling better on Wednesday, but the team planned to give him the day off to recover. Assuming he feels OK on Thursday, he'll go do agility tests to see if he could be available off the bench for the series finale in Chicago. More >

Anthony Rendon and Jared Walsh, Angels

When Rendon (left groin strain) was placed on the injured list with a groin strain on May 15, he said he was hopeful it wouldn't be a lengthy stay on the IL. Phil Nevin confirmed as much Wednesday after the team received "good results" back from the MRI that Rendon underwent earlier in the week, the manager said. Nevin stopped short of saying Rendon would return when eligible on May 24 but indicated it should only be a short-term issue.

Walsh (headaches and insomnia) dealt with headaches and insomnia during Spring Training, and he opened the season on the injured list. Walsh started a rehab assignment with Triple-A Salt Lake on May 12 and is expected to remain there through May 18, after which he could return to the Angels. More >

Mason Miller, A's

After receiving a second opinion from Dr. Keith Meister on Tuesday, Miller was diagnosed with a sprain of his ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow. The A's No. 2 prospect per MLB Pipeline will remain shut down from throwing until he is fully asymptomatic and there is currently no timetable for a return, though the A's expect him to pitch again at some point this season. Tyler Glasnow and Yandy Díaz, Rays

After experiencing “general left side tightness” last week, Glasnow (left oblique strain) pitched for Triple-A Durham on Tuesday and tossed four scoreless innings, allowing three hits and striking out nine batters in a 7-2 victory over Triple-A Nashville.

Díaz exited Sunday's game in the first inning due to left groin tightness. He said Tuesday he was feeling much better and hoped to be in the lineup Wednesday. Díaz was available to pinch-hit Tuesday against the Mets. More >

Narváez, on the 60-day IL with a calf strain, took batting practice at Citi Field on Tuesday. He is set to begin a Minor League rehab assignment late next week. He is not eligible to return from the IL until June 5. More >

Vince Velasquez and Rob Zastryzny, Pirates

Velasquez (right elbow inflammation) threw on Monday at the Pirates' complex in Bradenton, Fla., manager Derek Shelton said, and was scheduled for a side session on Wednesday before beginning a rehab assignment later this week, most likely with Triple-A Indianapolis.

Zastryzny (left elbow discomfort) began his rehab assignment with Indianapolis on Tuesday.

Liam Hendriks, White Sox

Hendriks (cancer treatment) will pitch again for Triple-A Charlotte on Thursday, according to manager Pedro Grifol. "Then after he’s done, we’ll check the box, see how he feels," Grifol said. "We’ll play it outing by outing. It could be that he feels great at that time, it could be another week. There’s no blueprint for this, so we’re going day by day with him." More >
