LATEST NEWS

May 16: LHP recalled; LHP Danny Young optioned
The Braves' top pitching prospect returns for his second stint of the season, looking to earn his first career win when he starts against the Rangers. In two starts this season, Shuster has gone 0-1 with an 8.31 ERA, fanning five. With Triple-A Gwinnett, the 24-year-old went 2-0, fanning 23 over 24 2/3 innings.

Optioned for the fourth time this year, Young has allowed just one run over 8 1/3 innings, fanning 11 and walking two.

May 15: RHP (right shoulder inflammation) moved to 60-day IL
Wright, who was placed on the 15-day IL on May 4, was transferred to the 60-day IL on Monday. Prior to the Braves' series against the Rangers, manager Brian Snitker said that Wright would be re-evaluated in a few weeks.

May 15: RHP claimed off waivers from Minnesota, assigned to Triple-A Gwinnett
Rodríguez, the son of Rangers legend Iván Rodríguez, made one relief appearance for the Twins this season, giving up one run in two-thirds of an inning. The 30-year-old is 12-16 with a 4.27 ERA in 54 career games (35 starts) for San Francisco and Minnesota.

INJURY UPDATES

10-day and 15-day IL

LHP Lucas Luetge (left biceps inflammation)
Expected return: TBD
Luetge will begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Mississippi. The lefty was shut down after he was unable to throw during a three-game series that ended on April 16 in Kansas City. The Braves were hopeful the reliever might need just a couple days of rest. (Last updated: May 16)

LHP Max Fried (left forearm strain)
Expected return: First half of July
Fried will likely miss two months while recovering from a left forearm strain. The left-hander began feeling discomfort near the end of his May 5 start against the Orioles. An MRI exam showed no structural damage, but because Fried will not throw for a couple weeks, he will likely need at least an additional month to prepare himself to rejoin the Braves’ rotation. 60-day IL

RHP Kyle Wright (right shoulder inflammation)
Expected return: TBD
An MRI showed Wright is dealing with a right shoulder strain, but not any significant tears. The Braves aren’t placing any timetable on Wright, who began the season on the injured list after right shoulder discomfort forced him to halt his preseason preparations for three weeks in January. Wright was placed on the 15-day IL on May 4, as he felt more discomfort during the previous day’s start against the Marlins. He was moved to the 60-day IL on May 15. (Last updated: May 15)

LHP Kolby Allard (right oblique strain)
Expected return:
June
Allard’s bid to find a spot on the Braves’ pitching staff ended when he strained his right oblique during Spring Training. He eventually could be used as a spot starter or long reliever. (Last updated: April 7)

Matzek is rehabbing after surgery. (Last updated: April 7)

RHP Huascar Ynoa (Tommy John surgery)
