LATEST NEWS

May 17: OF optioned to Triple-A Reno; RHP Luis Frías recalled from Reno
Thomas, the D-backs' second-round pick in the 2018 Draft, is headed back to the Minors for the first time since last September, when he was optioned following a 7-for-55 stretch with Arizona. The 23-year-old snapped out of a 16-at-bat hitless drought to open the season when he collected four hits on April 8, but he has slashed just .194/.232/.333 in 31 games since.

Frías, 24, walked more batters (17) than he struck out (14) last season with the D-backs and has allowed four runs across 1 2/3 innings with them this year. The right-hander has a 1.50 ERA and 16-to-2 strikeout-to-walk ratio with Reno this season.

May 12: LHP recalled from Triple-A Reno; LHP placed on the 15-day IL (strained right hamstring), retroactive to May 9
This will be Misiewicz's second stint with the D-backs this year. He appeared in four games for them and allowed a pair of runs in 4 2/3 innings. Mantiply has been one of the most reliable relievers for the D-backs since coming back from opening the season on the injured list.

RHP (right lat tendon tear)
Expected return: Likely to miss 2023 season
Martin, who threw a pitch in the fourth inning against the Brewers on March 15 and crumpled to the ground in pain, will require surgery and is doubtful to return this season, manager Torey Lovullo said on March 19.

“It’s going to be a long-term recovery,” said Lovullo, while adding that he didn’t know when Martin will undergo the procedure.

It’s the latest setback for Martin, who missed most of the 2019 season and all of ‘20, after undergoing Tommy John surgery. He’s also been on the injured list each of the last two seasons. (Last updated: March 19)
