Was born in Boston, MA...Under went Tommy John surgery on June 1, 2020. The surgery was performed by Dr. George Paletta in St. Louis. Returned to game action with San Francisco in 2021...After being released by the Yankees minor league system in 2013, Brebbia spent the 2014 and 2015 seasons pitching in Independent ball for the Sioux Falls Canaries (2014) and Laredo Lemurs (2015). Arizona eventually purchased his contract from the American Association in September 2015…Was a part of the 2018 Major League Baseball All-Star team that took part in the Japan All-Star Series in November 2018. Made three relief appearances during the series and also kept a running blog during his stay...Attended Elon University in Elon, NC where he pitched for the baseball team. During his freshman year, Brebbia helped the Phoenix secure an at-large bid to the 2009 NCAA Division 1 Baseball Tournament. In 2011, he went 7-1 with a 1.76 ERA in 27 relief appearances...John and his wife, Amanda, make their offseason home in Smyrna, GA and have two children

2022

Made 76 appearances for SF, third-most in MLB and most in the NL...his 76 outings were a career-high, besting his 66 outings with St. Louis in 2019...Became the ninth Giants pitcher in the last 10 seasons to log at least 70 outings in a season...Opened 11 games for SF...threw 11.0 innings of one-run baseball (0.82 ERA) with seven strikeouts...Held batters to a .192 average (14x73) with runners in scoring position...Went 2-0 with a 1.29 ERA (2er, 14.0ip) in 14 outings in July...Stranded 70.8% of inherited runners (17-of-24).

2021

Split the season between SF and Triple-A Sacramento...Went 0-1 with a 5.89 ERA (13er, 18.1ip) and 22 strikeouts in 18 relief appearances for the Giants...Appeared in 17 games (two starts) with Sacramento, going 3-0 with a 2.93 ERA (5er, 15.1ip) and 27 strikeouts...averaged 15.8 strikeouts-per-nine with the River Cats and held hitters to a .167 opposing average...Began the year on the 60-day IL after recovering from Tommy John surgery on June 1 of last year...Was reinstated from the 60-day IL on June 20 after making eight rehab appearances (two starts) with Sacramento...was 1-0 with a 3.86 ERA and 11 strikeouts in 7.0 innings.

2020

Was placed on the 45-day Injured List on Opening Day of the shortened 2020 season with a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow and missed the entire season due to Tommy John surgery, performed by Dr. George Paletta in St. Louis on June 1.

2019

Tied his single-season high with three wins...Pitched on consecutive days nine times this season, most recently 9/23-24...Recorded a career-high 12 Holds, ranking 4th on the Cardinals...Did not allow a home run from 6/23-9/20, a period of 29.0 innings covering 32.2 IP (opp. slugging .263). Finished ranked 14th among N.L. relief pitchers with 0.74 HR/9 IP. • Worked 24 appearances of four outs or more, T4th among National League relievers...Was 3-1, 1.77 ERA (40.2 IP/8 ER) in his 24 games pitched when working 1.1 IP or more; had 9 games w/2.0+ IP...Had multiple strikeouts in 28 games this season.
